Sleep deprivation and its consequences.
Professor Matthew Naughton presents a FREE Public lecture. Monday August 22, 6-7pm, UWA.
Sleep is crucial for life, health, and well-being. In this lecture, Professor Naughton discusses exciting research developments that explore links between chronic sleep deprivation and physical health. Over the past 20 years there has been an explosive growth in our understanding of the health effects of poor quality or quantity of sleep. For example, we now know that sleep disorders such as snoring and sleep apnoea are associated with diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease. The lecture may be of interest to those who have an interest in sleep or who suspect that they (or a loved one) may have a sleep disorder such as sleep apnea.
