Amber Howard sees children, adolescents and adults in West Perth and Como
Hello, I’d like to introduce myself. I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families in Australia and the United Kingdom. I’m an experienced clinical psychologist having worked for the last 12 years in clinical psychology roles in both government and private sector settings.
I am particularly interested in helping people address their sleep difficulties, and view sleep as foundational to overall health, wellbeing, and life satisfaction. It is hugely rewarding to see clients find long term solutions to manage their sleep and put worry about sleep at the back of their mind. I personally have experienced my own sleep challenges, having undergone surgery and I now use a CPAP machine. I welcome the opportunity to also work with you to address and overcome your sleep difficulties.
I see my role as supporting you to achieve your goals. I use therapies that have an established evidence-base for treating sleep disorders and difficulties. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a key treatment and the recommended first line treatment for Insomnia. I also like to empower my clients to make change and take small steps on a daily basis towards their outlined goals.
I enjoy working with children and adults with sleep problems such as insomnia, night-time fears, bedtime refusal, getting used to CPAP, shift work sleep disorder, overreliance on sleep medication, daytime fatigue, and circadian rhythm disorders. Some clients are also experiencing stress, anxiety, and/or low mood and I can provide therapy for these also.
