Hello, I’d like to introduce myself. I have over 22 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families in Australia and the United Kingdom. I returned to study as a mature student and have since gained over 13 years of experience working as a clinical psychologist in both government and private sector settings. In 2012 I also trained for and have continued to maintain my Psychology Board Approved Supervision (BAS) status, providing training and supervision to psychologists in the field.
I am particularly interested in helping people address their sleep difficulties, and view sleep as foundational to overall health, wellbeing, and life satisfaction. I am now consultig via Telehealth appointments, starting from 7am, to support those clients who find it more difficult to access office-based services. I see this as a practical solution for people who may now find themselves busy with work and/or home-commitments, for those who have health vulnerabilities, and/or for those who value improved efficiencies when accessing therapy for their sleep. Telehealth has been shown to be as effective as in-clinic appointmetns for sleep problems such as insomnia.
I see this as a valuable opportunity to provide all people with valuable evidence-based support to treat their sleep disorders and difficulties. I will continue to use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), as it is a key treatment and the recommended first line treatment for Insomnia. I also like to empower my clients to make change and take small steps on a daily basis towards their outlined goals.
I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and parents of younger children. I see clients who have sleep problems, such as insomnia, night-time fears, bedtime refusal, getting used to CPAP, shift work sleep disorder, overreliance on sleep medication, daytime fatigue, and circadian rhythm disorders. Some clients are also experiencing stress, anxiety, and/or low mood and I can provide therapy for these also.
